Sandy lived about three hours away from me in Newcastle, so we took it in turns to travel to see each other every weekend. After about six months it became too expensive, so Sandy left his friends and family behind and moved to The Wirral to be with me. I have never been so happy! Scott & Emma Scott’s Story: Being an American Marine posted in the U.K. (from Missouri), I knew my time in England was limited. I came across the site and thought maybe I would meet someone with similar hobbies to spend time with until I go to my next posting, so I signed up. Emma was working in theatre, and often moved around the country. She had received a new job in York, and thought she could find someone with similar interests to show her around the new area. In early January, I found out that I was getting posted for temporary duty in the United States for 6 months but decided to try long distance with Emma. I had no idea how things were going to work out, with such a long absence. However, once we were reunited in England, we were even stronger than before. On Christmas Eve, I proposed to Emma, and she accepted. The future? We got married in February of this year and are now headed for San Angelo, TX, USA to begin our life together as a married couple.
